The Greatest Basketball Team I Will Ever See

I was born in 1993, so I never saw Magic, or Larry play. I never saw Wilt or Russell play, and I never saw the 72 Lakers. I barely saw Michael Jordan and barely remember watching him play with the Wizards during the end of his amazing career. I did however see the Shaq-Kobe Lakers team of the early 2000s and saw the 08 Boston team that featured the first big three assembled. I also saw Last year's Miami Heat team and thought it would be hard to picture a better team than that, but I was proven wrong. By who? By the 2013 version of the Miami Heat which are challenging the 72 Lakers record and have won 27 straight. I'm not saying they are the greatest ever, but I can say I have never seen anything like it, and I doubt you have either.

First and foremost, this team is built around the greatest basketball player to ever step on the court, Lebron James. Yes, he is better than Michael Jordan. (There I said it.) Lebron is a monster on the floor unlike any that have come before him. He can play all five positions on the floor and can do anything asked of him. He can score at will, shoot the three, dunk on anyone he wants to, pass like Magic, rebound, run the floor, and block shots. He has the complete toolbox of skills that no player has showcased other than him. Simply put, if Lebron wants to win no player or team is going to stop him. They call him the King for a reason. Last week in Cleveland Lebron showed something we haven't seen from anyone since Jordan. He turned on a switch and took over that game and you knew the Heat were going to win, because Lebron put them on his back. A team with this guy on their team is the scariest thing for apposing NBA players. And for good reason. He is the best of all time. Period.

So we have the greatest basketball player ever, and oh yeah throw in Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to complete the greatest big three ever assembled. After that we'll throw in Ray Allen, the greatest three point shooter in the history of the NBA who on this team only has to stand in the corner and wait for the pass to come from Lebron or Wade and bury the shot which he has done more consistently than any player for years. Add Shane Battier a dominant defender and another three point specialist who can knock down shot after shot for the Heat. And at the point you have a developing Mario Chalmers who has emerged as a very good player in his own right, and can also knock down shots from the outside with regularity. Don't forget all these players benefit greatly from playing with Bron, Bosh and Wade.

With that group of talent led by King James, this streak is amazing but not shocking. This is the greatest basketball team that I will see in my lifetime, bar none. Lebron is making history before our eyes and we are witnessing a dominant force we haven't seen before. Make sure you watch it and savor it because there may never be another player quite on his level of versatile skill and physical dominance. The King will add another ring to his hand this year and who knows how many he will end up with. If Lebron wants to win, there isn't a single player in the league who is going to do anything to stop him. The is a man among boys and this Heat team is head and shoulders over everyone they play this year. Make sure you watch carefully and take notes, because we are witnessing something very special happening in Miami.
