Mark Stoops hired as Kentucky head coach

According to multiple news sources including WYMT in Hazard KY, Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops will be the next head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats football team. Up until now there have been rumors of the hiring but no solid sources have reported anything until now.

Kentucky fired head coach Joker Phillips after this season ended with a very disappointing 2-10 record, including a loss to Western Kentucky at home. Rumors have been swirling about names from Bobby Petrino to Butch Jones, but now it looks like a decision has been made by athletic director Mitch Barnhart.

No official announcement has come from the university at this time, but stay tuned to The Flex for more news as things start to become official.

UPDATE: The University of Kentucky has released a statement that Mark Stoops has officially been named the new head coach.
