The Tennessee Volunteers have officially fired head coach Derek Dooley. After weeks of rumors and speculation he was cut loose today and the Vols coaching search has begun.
The big name that Tennessee fans seem to believe they will land is Jon Gruden. With an easy national TV job on Monday Night Football, and a number of NFL teams wanting him on their sidelines Gruden seems like a pipe dream for Tennessee.
A more realistic candidate could be Bobby Petrino who has made it clear he wants to coach in the SEC, and has enough baggage that Auburn might turn him away. If Tennessee wants Petrino I think the job is his, but we will see how it shakes out.
Stop it with the Gruden talk though.
