Baseball HOF voters pitch a shutout

In a surprising and somewhat embarrassing result from the hall of fame voters, no players were elected to go into the hall in 2013. This is the first time that no players will go into the hall since 1996. The main reason for the vote was because the class if packed full of suspected, or admitted, steroid users. Led by Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, and Roger Clemons this class had fans wondering whether voters would vote in any of the suspected cheaters, and now we have our answer. The highest percentage vote of the steroid crowd went to Clemons who gained 37 percent of the vote, still well shy of the needed 75 percent.

The leading vote getter was former Astros star Craig Biggio who led the way with 68 percent. I suspect we will see Biggio getting the call to the hall in the next couple of years and I could also see Mike Piazza sneaking in in a few years, but as for the roided up superstars awaiting the call, it may never come. With all of them getting such low numbers in the voting I doubt the voters will ever let them in and we should take this as a message from them that there will be no steroid users in the hall of fame.

By the way, let Pete Rose in. #FreePete
